Historical Places

A Famosa

This is one of the top attractions in Malacca for sightseeing that you must visit! Built way back in 1511, you could stop by this location to capture some great photos for you to reminisce about your visit. The site features the remains of a gate house of what is known to have housed the Portuguese administration center during the 16th century.

 Malacca Maritime Museum

This is definitely one of the must-see attractions in Melacca as the entire museum is made as a replica of the famous Portuguese ship, Flor de la Mar, which is believed to have sunk on its way to Portugal while carrying loots plundered from Melacca. As you visit this location, you will be able to witness various displays of artifacts gathered during the different historic eras of Malacca.

NEW TECHNOLOGY 🌏

Virtual Reality (VR) literally makes it possible to experience anything, anywhere, anytime. It is the most immersive type of reality technology and can convince the human brain that it is somewhere it is really not. Head mounted displays are used with headphones and hand controllers to provide a fully immersive experience. With the largest technology companies on planet earth (Facebook, Google, and Microsoft) currently investing billions of dollars into virtual reality companies and startup, the future of virtual reality is set to be a pillar of our everyday lives.

Virtual Reality
A realistic three-dimensional image or artificial environment that is created with a mixture of interactive hardware and software, and presented to the user in such a way that the any doubts are suspended and it is accepted as a real environment in which it is interacted with in a seemingly real or physical way.

HOW DOES IT WORKS ?

In order for the human brain to accept an artificial, virtual environment as real, it has to not only look real, but also feel real. Looking real can be achieved by wearing a head-mounted display (HMD) that displays a recreated life size, 3D virtual environment without the boundaries usually seen on TV or a computer screen. Feeling real can be achieved through handheld input devices such as motion trackers that base interactivity on the user’s movements. By stimulating many of the same senses one would use to navigate in the real world, virtual reality environments are feeling increasingly more like the natural world. Below, we explore some of the key components to behind this system.

Key Components in a Virtual Reality System

  1. PC (Personal Computer)/Console/Smartphone
  2. Virtual reality content, which is the what users view inside of a virtual reality headset, is equally important as the headset itself. In order to power these interactive three-dimensional environments, significant computing power is required. This is where PC (Personal Computer), consoles, and smartphones come in. They act as the engine to power the content being produced.

  3. Head-Mounted Display
  4. A head-mounted display (also called HMD, Headset, or Goggles) is a type of device that contains a display mounted in front of a user’s eyes. This display usually covers the user's full field of view and displays virtual reality content. Some virtual reality head mounted displays utilize smartphone displays, including the Google Cardboard or Samsung Gear VR. Head-mounted displays are often also accompanied with a headset to provide for audio stimulation.
  5. Input Devices
  6. Input devices are one of the two categories of components that provide users with a sense of immersion (i.e. convincing the human brain to accept an artificial environment as real). They provide users with a more natural way to navigate and interact within a virtual reality environment. Some of the more common forms of virtual reality input devices include:
    • Joysticks
    • Force Balls/Tracking Balls
    • Controller Wands
    • Data Gloves
    • Trackpads
    • On-Device Control Buttons
    • Motion Trackers/Bodysuits
    • Treadmills
    • Motion Platform

NEW TECHNOLOGY 🌏

Our quest for faster and simpler transportation will always be a Journey and not a destination. One of the trending and sought-after modes for an individual is a Hoverboard. They are self-controlling two-wheelers which run on batteries (Well, most of them). These dumbbell look-alike Hover boards first appeared in the “Back to the Future” in 1989 but they came into existence and became popular few years back. Even though the Hoverboards in use today can’t “Hover”, they are very interesting when it comes to understanding the application of various sensors. They are also called Self-Balancing Scooters

How Hoverboard works?

Hoverboards are built in such a way that each of the wheels has its own Gyroscope, Tilt and speed sensor. They are generally placed below the frame where rider places the feet. Once the rider places the feet on the board, Gyroscope provides data to the logic board when the rider tilts ahead or backward. When the rider is not tilting, the IR sensor, which is positioned below the Foot placement, gives data to the logic board to not move and not run the motor. This how they sense the pressure on the foot pads and move these self-balancing scooters accordingly.

When tilted in a particular direction (ahead or backward, depending on the Hover board) to a defined angle, the data from gyroscope is relayed to logic board to run the motor which allows wheels to rotate and the rider moves ahead. More tilt will give you more speed.
Each wheel is compliant with its own gyroscope in order to make turns. For a left turn the rider will move the right leg ahead, which will move only the right wheel, keeping the motor of the left wheel off and a left turn will be carried out. Similarly for right turn, left feet should be moved ahead for the tilt. In order to move in circles, tilt anyone leg ahead. It is not very productive but it is fun J
IR Sensors are very common sensors which uses Infrared rays in order to get the reflected data from the object to measure its presence and distance from the sensor which can be used for many applications.
The tilt and speed sensors measure the speed of the wheels in motion in rpm (Revolutions per minute) and send the data to gyroscope and logic board in order to control the speed.
The Logic Board is like the Central Processing Unit of Hover Board. This Logic board has Microprocessor as main component. It sends and receives data from all sensors, sends the processed data with its logic to the motors for the required movement which provides continuous adjustments, giving you a balancing and centered vehicle. It also manages the power from the batteries and also takes care that it doesn’t burn out.
Battery packs are readily available and there are various choices available for this component but most commonly used battery for this application is a 36V 4400mAH battery. You can also make your own battery pack using the battery of an old Laptop (Although, it is not recommended as you’ll need to handle it with utmost care!)

NEW TECHNOLOGY 🌏

Drone technology is constantly evolving as new innovation and big investment are bringing more advanced drones to the market every few months.
Below, we discuss UAV technology on the most popular drones on the market which have all the latest drone technology.  Most drones will have very similar systems incorporated.
Unmanned aerial vehicle technology covers everything from the aerodynamics of the drone, materials in the manufacture of the physical UAV, to the circuit boards, chipset and software which are the brains of the drone.
One of the most popular drones on the market is the DJI Phantom 3.  This drone was very popular with professional aerial cinematographers. While slightly old now, it uses plenty of advanced technology which is present in the very latest drones. This UAV is ideal to explain drone technology because it has everything in one package.  It includes the UAV, gimbal and camera and uses some of the top drone technology on the market today.
In only a few months since writing this article, some new and highly advanced drones such as the DJI Mavic, Phantom 4 Pro and Inspire 2 have come to the market.  The fast pace of drone technological innovation is tremendous.  I’ve included these latest drone technology advancements in the below article.  So it is right up to date including the links.

HOW DOES DRONES WORKS

A typical unmanned aircraft is made of light composite materials to reduce weight and increase maneuverability. This composite material strength allows military drones to cruise at extremely high altitudes.
Drones are equipped with different state of the art technology such as infra-red cameras (military UAV), GPS and laser (military UAV). Drones are controlled by remote control system also sometimes referred to as a ground cockpit.

gaming keypad is a small, auxiliary keyboard designed only for gaming. It has a limited number of the original keys from a standard keyboard, and they are arranged in a more ergonomic fashion to facilitate quick and efficient gaming key presses. The commonly used keys for gaming on a computer are the 'W', 'A', 'S', 'D', and the keys close and adjacent to these keys. These keys and style of using a keyboard is referred to as WASD. A gaming keypad will not only optimize the WASD layout, but will often contain extra functionality, such as volume control, the Esc. key, and the F1–F12 keys.

SOFTBALL ⚾️

Softball games have many different rules and regulations based on league specifications. The amount of variation is based on the level of skill of players as well as participation in league play. However, there are general rules and regulations that apply to every softball team and game that affect field setup, player placement, batting, pitching and game length.

FIELD REGULATIONS

Softball fields have four bases that players can run or protect when playing offense or defense. These bases are positioned for batters to run counter-clockwise from home base to first, second, and third base in succession. Spacing between bases differs by league but in general, bases are placed roughly 60 feet apart within the inner diamond of the softball field.
The field area inside the base diamond is called the infield. The field area outside the bases is called the outfield. A foul line extends on both sides of the field from the home plate line straight through first and third base into the outfield. This foul line marks the boundary for batted softballs to be considered in play. Typically, a fence or outer limiting line marks the area behind the outfield to designate official home runs.
PLAYER RULES

Every softball team has 10 players although some leagues do permit teams to play as few as eight players. Softball requires two teams to play against each other, alternating batting (offense) and fielding (defense) positions one time each inning.
The infield consists of the catcher at home plate, the pitcher, and one base defender at first, second and third base. A shortstop is positioned between second and third base. The outfield defensive positions include left fielder, center fielder, right-center fielder and right fielder.

GAME RULES
Basic rules for scoring exist for every league that directly affects actual game play. Any player should have a clear understanding of the rules for their specific league since slight nuance can change even these most basic rules.
Each runner must touch the bases in order when advancing through the bases. Runners are not permitted to leave the base before a subsequent batter hits the softball. The batter is allowed to run past first only after tagging the base, provided they are not showing intention to continue running to second base. This rule is allowed because many runners can't stop quickly after running top speed from their batting position at home base to first base.
Runners must tag each base bag and are not permitted to run past second or third. Runners can slide into second, third base and home plate. Stealing from one base to another is not allowed, except in some fast-pitch leagues.

BATTING RULES
A batter is allowed three strikes for each at bat before being called out. However, softball leagues try to save time during games and as a result, almost all leagues have a one-out rule for every player coming to bat. This means each player really only has two outs per at bat. Fouls are considered strikes unless a player already has two fouls. Pitchers must also keep one foot on the ground when pitching the softball.
Most softball governing association monitor every bat used in their leagues very closely. Umpires check the legality of bats before games. Each governing agency has a complete list of legal bats available within in their league.
